Hi Amal
I have finished my program and have gone to market. It comes in four flavours at the moment; Aquathon, Duathlon, Fun Run and Triathlon. I have been using short range RFID with great success. I am still keen to develop the system further utilizing long range. I have been experimenting with UHF and Wiegand with some success. I need to improve my programming so I can tackle serial port communications. Kind Regards Jason

Hi Jason
I'm starting on a similar project and have purchased a UHF reader and tags for use in mountain bike events. I have an existing MS Access based timing system which relies on manually capturing the riders' numbers as they cross the finish line. We would like to now integrate the RFID reader. I would be interested in seeing what software you have available - please share a link to your website. |

Nice work Jason. I think if you are going to plan on long range, it will have to be set up in such a way as to "point upward" from the ground, similar to how current shoe-tags work with the long loop antennas that stretch across the checkpoint path. I'm not sure what tech they use (LF, HF, UHF), but my bet is HF (13.56MHz).

Hi Jason,
I'm in a similar position right now. I have developped a program for the time registration of a time trial. But now it needs a manual input of the numbers. Now I want to upgrade the program with the use of an rfid reader. Wich rfid reader are you currently using in your solution? My budget isn't extremely big and if I buy something I want to know that it's working. And apparently it does for you. What is the range that you can get? Thanks greetings |

Thanks,
In the meantime I orderd your book and the kit to complete my software package and test it out. Afterwards I can expand it with a better reader to get it up and running. |

Hi Jason
Have you made any more progress with your timing system? My UHF reader is working quite well but I am having difficulty integrating it into the Access app. I have zero coding knowledge or experience so have been fiddling around with some keyboard wedge software which converts the data from the reader into virtual keystrokes and then sends it to the app as if it was typed in manually. I'm certain there's a better way than this!! Please share a link to your website if its ready.
