Unfortunately I don't have a mac, nor do I know how to integrate with a mac's logon system. I've been asking people who seem to have accomplished this to submit code, but so far nobody has obliged.

some guy said something here - http://ask.metafilter.com/79491/RFID-login-on-a-Mac
these guys might have an idea on what would be involved - http://www.rohos.com/products/rohos-logon-key-for-mac/ maybe a script is the answer? - http://www.downloadplex.com/Scripts/PHP/Modules/rfid_login-scripts_285448.html Overall I find getting "real" information on customizing OS X is very difficult to near impossible. Not to start an Apple/Microsoft flame war, but in general Apple products are not known for their openness. Microsoft was kind enough to build an entire Credential Provider platform and supply example code. Apple? No way. All I get when I look for customizing the OS X logon system is software products and "hacks" to let you put a fancy image on the logon screen. |

I've not contacted them, but I doubt they'd care that some crazy windoze user with chips in his hands wanted information on "under the hood" security processes of os x. it might be worth a shot though.
If I had a Mac, I'm sure I'd be hot on the case. If anyone is willing to donate an intel macbook pro or something, I'd definitely look into it :) Edited by amal - 11 March 2011 at 10:25pm |
