Hi Amal - I'm a big fan of your work. I'm getting ready to get my RFID
implants and wanted to know what you would get if you were doing it today? Would
you sitck with the EM4102 and the HITAG 2048S? Thanks for the input! -Eldon |

I guess that depends on what your primary applications will be. I can tell you my EM4102 tag gets way more action than my HITAG S does, but it's good to have the HITAG because I can set up secure applications if I want to. Ideally, if I had to do it over again, I'd still get both tags ;)
Keep in mind that you can also program the HITAG to basically emulate an EM4102, but in doing so you can't use the secure features on the tag, so you get flexibility with a HITAG but you can only use one feature set at a time.

Great, thanks for the feedback! I was leaning towards both tags so this confirms it for me.

cool man. glad I could help. post some pix if/when you get the procedure done :) if you run into trouble finding medically trained assistance, check this post and/or browse other posts on the forum... there are several regarding the difficulty many have in getting a doctor or piercing professional to perform the procedure.

I ordered the implants and parts for the door project today. I think I have someone lined up to do the implants too. I'll post pics as soon as I get it done.

So I was just thinking....if the HITAG S can emulate an EM4102 would it make more sense to implant 2 HITAG modules? I could emulate EM4102 with one of them and native HITAG with the other. What do you think?
I already ordered 2 of both anyway...

if you have the right reader gear to enable you to program the tags properly, then i suppose it makes sense. for most people who want to get in at the ground floor for cheap, the EM4102 will suffice.

Hey there, sorry I didn't see this message until now! I would still get both. I use the EM4102 for a lot of cheap/simple projects that don't require a lot of security. The HITAG S can be programmed to emulate an EM4102 but it cannot do that AND support encryption features at the same time, so its a wash if you want to use an implant with both types of setups. You might be asked "why not just use the secure HITAG and make all projects secure?" ... the answer to that is cost and complexity. You can find cheap EM4102 readers that integrate very easily into tons of project, but readers that support HITAG S encryption are more spendy and are more difficult to use in projects.
