RFID Implantation Questions

Most of the implantable tags are made from Schott Bio-glass. Used for human implants it is inert with body tissue.

The glass tags don't even really "send out a signal" like you'd expect a cell phone or FRS radio to send out a "signal". The tag is totally inert, with no power or ability to do anything until it's brought inside the magnetic field generated by the reader. Once there, the tag absorbs power from that magnetic field and "singals" the reader by simply modulating the field. This is different from the traditional "sending out a signal" people often think of, which is actually a radiant wave that eminates from a transmitter antenna.

Any risk to a person's health from exposure to anything in this world must be assessed by taking strength multiplied by duration. In the case of an RFID reader's magnetic field, the field strength must be multiplied by the duration of exposure, which is less than a second in most cases. Both the power output (strength) of the field, and the duration of exposure are so absolutely insignificant, in my opinion it (the operation of the tag) poses zero health risk. Compared to the exposure you get from your cell phone, in both strength and duration, use of a passive RFID tag is inconsequential.
