Hi there,

1) nope, chapter 10 is about reading and writing tags. The phidget reader only works with the read only EM4102 family of tags, plus there are no write capabilities built into the supporting drivers, so even if the hardware could support reading and writing, the software does not.

2) The code in chapter 10 is a form of basic called PBASIC, and is written for the Parallax BASIC Stamp microprocessor/microcontroller.

The project code is written specifically for the reader/project in question and are generally not interchangeable. You'll have to get familiar with coding or find someone who is to be able to move beyond the structure of the projects in the book.

Hi Amal,

Thanks for your reply. I had some time to check through some stuff and figured most of that out myself. I've been looking at your chapter 2  project with a view to redoing it so suit my needs. i'm armed with a visual basic book and a bit of time so wish me luck..

Irene
