Hello! Ok, we need all the details... and I mean ALL the details. Model of car, manual or auto transmission, type of RFID you want to use, etc. Also, do you have the RFID Toys book? It will help you quite a lot and I will be referencing chapters and pages in the book in an effort to help you out. |

There are many ways this can be done. I think your best bet would be to get two RFID readers, one for door access and one for starting. That way you could place the antenna for door access in a spot easy to access from outside the vehicle, then the starter access antenna could be placed inside the vehicle an an easy to reach place for starting the car. This also gives you the advantage of having a "door open" only key card which will open the doors but not start the car. I couldn't find the Canakit RF102 kit, but I did find this RFID reader kit on the canakit website: http://www.canakit.net/Contents/Items/RFID-101.asp I assume it's the same because this same kit is sold at various websites under different names. The kit used in Chapter 3 is the same as the one shown in the URL above, which I bought from www.qKits.com Basically, to make this as easy as possible, I'd recommend getting a remote-start kit for your vehicle. That will ensure you won't mess up the car too bad trying to hack it, and you can get the kit installed by a pro. Then, you can follow the "Remote Modification" example in Chapter 3 to unlock your doors, disable your alarm, and then start the car... all by installing two RFID readers and modifying a single spare remote for your car-start system. Most car-start systems work as a remote-start system, car alarm, and power door lock system wrapped into one, which is perfect for this application. Also, your key will still work, just in case you need to sell the car later or the RFID system fails for some reason. |
