Not sure if this is the correct area, but i was browsing ebay and ran accross this product:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110713894308&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:MOTORS:3160 I purchased one just now, and i can give an opinion on quality and such when i get it if anybody is curious. Happy implanting :) Note: This is not my ebay store, and i cannot vouch for the seller really. I just found them and hope people can get some use out of them. I got my implanter today. Looks legit, has all the documentation and stuff with it as one would expect. Collar tag and cards telling you how to register the tag are all present. Got my chip soaking in alcohol, and need to pick up some antibacterial soap, but otherwise i'm ready to go. I'll try to get a video of the procedure if i can. I will have my roomie helping out, this should prove to be quite interesting. Also i find it interesting how i can read the tag while it's submersed in alcohol lol. Not sure why that's fascinating to me, but it is.

Nice! Looking forward to seeing some video :) The LF operating frequency really works to mitigate the interference caused by liquid environments!

Well I just installed my chip a few hours ago, it was quite unpleasant but I am terrified of needles. Had my roomie do it for me and it went mostly smoothly. I'll get the video up in the next week or so to show everyone :)

Does anyone know if these chips have the bio-glass coating on them? When I was researching chips I found a few sources linking this coating to pet cancer...

Well yea they do, but I only posted this so people could use the implanters for their own chip like I did. Seems to be a pretty typical method for implantees. When I got mine though, the coating on the origin chip was messed up and it came off pretty easily, so I'd imagine you could take it off and re-steralize it if you wanted to. Also, from what I've heard, the risk of cancer from these is pretty much astronomical.

Like astronomical in as very likely? Also, I would really recommend that chips are taken to either a medical office or piercing shop with an autoclave machine to have chips sterilized. Chemical sterilization only goes so far. An autoclave is basically a giant pressure cooker that really gets things clean.

wolfdog1987 meant "astronomically small" :) while I support the idea of autoclaving, some autoclaves use very high temperatures and some chips will be damaged by the process... particularly chips with re-writable memory blocks. always test test test before implanting.
as for chemical disinfectant, I always remember that falling down or getting road rash where dirt and rocks are forced under the skin, with proper care, and provided you're not in the middle of the jungle, will hardly ever produce an infection... so by comparison, a chemically disinfected glass ampule being placed under the skin is not much of a risk at all.
